Warriors sign Puma full-back Stortoni

28/08/2007

Glasgow Warriors have signed Argentinean international full-back Bernardo Stortoni on a one-year deal from Guinness Premiership side Bristol.

The contract includes an option for a second year at Warriors, who begin their Magners League campaign in less than a month's time when they travel to Cardiff Arms Park to face Cardiff Blues on September 21st.

And Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said he hoped the addition of Stortoni would add numbers as well as know-how to the squad.

"I was looking to add some experience to the backline and losing Rory Lamont and Francisco Leonelli also left us short," he said.

"Having looked at some footage and spoken to Richard Hill at Bristol and Argentina's director of rugby, Les Cusworth, I know Bernie will bring a lot of energy and experience to the Warriors' backline."

Stortoni said he was pleased to be joining Warriors after a promising three-year stint at Bristol, where he scored 18 tries in 42 appearances.

"I am looking forward to playing here. Glasgow Warriors have a good team and for me it is very good to play with such a fantastic group of players," he said.

"I know I now need to demonstrate to the rest of the players that I will do everything I can to play well.

"The boys are all very friendly and they know my English isn't very good, so I must say thank you to them for taking the time to teach me all the different moves."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18260207-ADNFCR
