Wasps climb with Bath win

29/12/2007

London Wasps overcame Guinness Premiership title contenders Bath 25-10 at Adams Park to continue their rich run of form.

The hosts had a commanding 20-0 lead by half-time after flanker Rob Webber had forced his way over and England winger Paul Sackey raced in before the break.

Another score from Sackey combined with reliable kicking from Daniel Cipriani ensured Wasps stayed comfortably clear despite Joe Maddock crossing for the visitors.

Gloucester stayed top of the table with a resounding 27-0 win over west country rivals Bristol at Kingsholm.

Leon Lloyd scored two tries and was followed over the whitewash by hooker Olivier Azam and winger James Simpson-Daniel as the cherry-and-whites secured local bragging rights.

Leicester kept in distant touch with the leaders after a determined 25-17 win over London Irish at Welford Road.

Sam Vesty, Seru Rabeni and Martin Castrogiovanni crossed for the Tigers before prop Julian White crashed over in the final five minutes to guarantee the win.

A try from Saliosi Tagicakibau and four penalties from Delon Armitage ensured the Exiles were in the hunt until White's score.

Worcester's miserable season continues although a losing bonus point saw them rise off the foot of the table after a 10-7 loss at home to Harlequins.

The Warriors are without a win in nine matches but Loki Crichton's solo try two minutes from tie reduced the losing margin to three points to send them above Leeds Carnegie.

Chris Robshaw and Gary Botha scored first-half tries for the visitors.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18408557-ADNFCR
