Wasps fly-half Walder out for three months with broken leg
14/04/2008
Wasps fly-half Dave Walder will be out for three months after breaking his leg during the match against Worcester on Saturday.
The 29-year-old underwent surgery at the Princess Margaret Hospital, in Windsor, on Sunday, to pin a fracture to his left tibia.
Walder had been due to play for New Zealand club side North Harbour Province during the summer, but has now been forced to pull out.
Director of rugby at Wasps Ian McGeechan said: "We are all very disappointed for Dave, especially as he has been playing probably the best rugby of his career in recent months.
"With a 85 per cent return on his goal-kicking in addition to his form with the ball in hand, his loss is clearly a blow as we face the run-in to the end of the season."
Walder sustained the injury during Wasps 49-12 victory over Worcester at Adams Park on Saturday.
The current Heineken Cup champions currently lie fifth in the Guinness Premiership table.
