Wasps reach Cup final
22/04/2007
Wasps will face Leicester in the Heineken Cup final after bearing Northampton 30-13 at the Ricoh Arena.
The London side came from 13 points behind with tries from James Haskell and Josh Lewsey and a brace from Paul Sackey.
Northampton led through Bruce Reihana's try but were undone by Wasps' awesome second-half display.
Wasps will face the Tigers in an all-English final on May 20th at Twickenham.
The Saints exploded out of the blocks and led after four minutes when Reihana touched down to finish off a sweeping move.
Reihana then converted before kicking over two penalties from tight angles to give the Saints a 13-0 lead.
Wasps improved as the half went on and Sackey scored their first try after juggling the ball and diving over in the corner.
The Saints' chances were dented at the start of the second period when Ben Lewitt was sin-binned for continually booting the ball into touch with Marc Van Gisbergen kicking over the resulting penalty.
Wasps took the lead from a lineout when Haskell overpowered the Saints' defence to cross the line.
On 70 minutes, Wasps clinched victory when Sackey collected Lewsey's pass before bamboozling two defenders with some fancy footwork to score.
After Van Gisbergen kicked over his third penalty, Lewsey sealed an emphatic display with a try in the final minutes.
