Harlequins deny Dwain Chambers link
26/07/2008
Harlequins have denied reports that suggested sprinter Dwain Chambers was set to be appointed as sprint coach with the Guinness Premiership club.
There had been rumours during the week that an appointment was imminent, but now the club have been moved to deny all reports.
A statement by Harlequins chief executive Mark Evans said the stories were inaccurate and deliberately misleading.
"Dwain Chambers has not, and will not, be employed by the club in any capacity," Evans said.
"The sprint coach, currently used by the Harlequins players, is the highly-rated and well-known specialist Tony Lester, coach to many past and present GB sprinters."
Last week Chambers lost an appeal against his Olympic ban, and has since set London 2012 as a target for the future.
Chambers tried his hand at rugby league earlier this year with a trial period at Castleford Tigers but a contract offer never materialised.
