Alesha: Strictly saved me
24/12/2007
Strictly Come Dancing winner Alesha Dixon has told how the show brought happiness back to her life after her life fell apart last year.
Last Christmas the former Mis-Teeq singer was dropped by her record label and her husband left her for fellow popstar Javine Hylton.
"It was the lowest point of my life. I just kept thinking, 'What have I done to deserve this?' I didn't see the point in living," she confessed.
But the support of her friends and family along with her success with dance partner Matthew Cutler means 2008 can now start on a much more positive footing.
More than 12 million viewers tuned in to see Alesha lift the trophy on the hit BBC1 show on Saturday night, seeing off competition from finalist Matt Di Angelo.
"Look at me now," she gushed. "I've learned to dance, I'm happy and I believe it was meant to happen."
If the rumours are true then the new year looks set to be even better for the 29-year-old. Reports suggest a new album and a role in a West End musical could be on the cards.
