Arlene: Grow up Kelly
11/11/2007
Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has told Kelly Brook she has to "grow up" if she is to have any chance of winning the show.
The legendary choreographer has said Brook and her dance partner Brendan Cole lack the sexual chemistry necessary for a win.
Talking to the Sunday Mirror, Phillips said: "Kelly and her dance partner Brendan Cole don't work because Kelly's not sexual.
"She is like a giggling six-year-old wrapped in a woman's body. Her smile, her hair, her teeth, her body, her legs - everything about her physically is stunning.
"But she doesn't exude sexiness. She's like a little kid, and she needs to grow up fast if she wants to win."
Phillips revealed that the famously snake-hipped Cole had been a far more convincing performer when he won the first series of the show while paired with former BBC newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.
"When they put Brendan and Kelly together I laughed out loud," the acid-tongued judge admitted. "I didn't think for a minute they would work together as a couple. And I was right - they haven't gelled," Arlene continued.
"Brendan likes women like Natasha Kaplinsky - women who inspire him. He likes serious women, and I don't know how serious Kelly is."
TV presenter Dominic Littlewood was evicted from the show last week, while GMTV presenter Kate Garraway is emerging as an unlikely favourite to win the fifth series.
