BB9 housemates enjoy post-engagement gifts
26/08/2008
Big Brother 9 contestants have been given a host of gifts to celebrate the engagement of Mario and Lisa.
The pair became engaged on Sunday after Mario, who left Lisa behind in the house after being evicted six weeks ago, proposed using placards.
And to commemorate their impending nuptials, the housemates were treated to a day of gift-giving, beginning with a champagne breakfast.
Rachel was given a large basket of grapes, while Darnell was offered an MP3 player loaded with seven R 'n' B tracks that he was permitted to use for one hour.
However, Darnell told Big Brother he thought his present "sucks" because he could not share the music with other housemates.
He proceeded to leave the diary room and tell his fellow housemates his present "sucks
what kind of s**t gift is that?" before throwing the MP3 player in the garden.
Mikey had said he did not want a gift, as it would not be comparable to Lisa's present of a marriage proposal, but he was nonetheless given some smoothies and chocolate while Mohamed received a large cheese and tomato pizza and Kathreya was given a jar of cookies.
After these gifts, Darnell admitted to some concern that his present had been a good one and he had not appreciated it.
"What is it that's wrong with me?" he wondered aloud, to which Rachel replied that he may always want what he thinks he can't have.
Rex was given eight-year-old vintage champagne which he said he will "drink
on a good occasion" while Sara was the happiest recipient having been given a letter from her sister.
She started to cry, saying: "I'm shaking" and sobbed as she tried to read the letter aloud in the diary room.
"This is the best present ever
I've never been so happy in my life," she told Big Brother.
