Boycott gets the chop from Hell's Kitchen
07/09/2007
Rosie Boycott, the former editor of the Independent newspaper, has become the first contestant to get the boot from Hell's Kitchen.
The reality show pits celebrity chefs against one another under the scrutiny of Marco Pierre White, who has taken over from original star, Gordon Ramsay.
Boycott was voted out last night in a run-off with Adele Silva, the Emmerdale actress.
Speaking afterwards, she said she had enjoyed taking part in the show and had "learned to respect food".
The journalist is the first to get the chop from the viewers, but was the second person to leave the show after the former member of boy band Blue, Lee Ryan, walked out.
Ryan took exception to Pierre White's use of the word "pikey" and stormed out yesterday.
"Maybe he [Pierre White] didn't realise what he was saying," the singer told the Sun newspaper.
There are eight celebrities remaining, including ex-boxer Barry McGuigan, singer Paul Young and veteran comic Jim Davidson.
Skybet has Big Brother II winner Brian Dowling joint favourite with Adele Silva at 3/1.
