CSI star arrested for heroin, coke, ecstasy possession

Actor Gary Dourdan has been arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin, cocaine and ecstasy, according to police in Palm Springs, California.

The CSI star was detained after police discovered him asleep in the driver's seat of a parked car in the resort town around 100 miles east of Los Angeles at 05:12 local time on Monday.

The 41-year-old was described as "disoriented and possibly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs," in a statement by the Palm Springs Police Department obtained by Us magazine.

"The officer subsequently located suspected cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, miscellaneous prescription drugs, and paraphernalia," the statement continued.

Having starred in Cosby Show spin-off A Different World and the series Soul Food for US network Showtime, Dourdan won the part of forensics expert Warrick Brown on CSI, CBS' Emmy-award winning crime show.

Dourdan's character is scheduled to leave the show, the last episode of which was watched by 17 million viewers in the US, at the end of the eighth season.

The Philadelphia native dated British model and TV presenter Lisa Snowdon following her split from George Clooney.
