Child sex trial begins for Langham
12/07/2007
Award-winning actor Chris Langham has begun his trial for child sex offences at Maidstone crown court on Kent.
The Bafta-award winning comedy actor and writer denies ten counts of indecent assault and two counts of serious assault between 1996 and 2006 on a girl under the age of 18.
He also denies 15 counts of making an indecent image of a child between September and November 2005.
Mr Langham pleaded not guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing in February.
The actor arrived at Maidstone crown court this morning where a small group of photographers had gathered.
He is most well-known for his role in the BBC comedy series The Thick of It, playing the hapless minister Hugh Abbott.
Mr Langham has also worked as a comedy writer for the Muppet Show and the Bafta award-winning programme Help.
