Coronation Street favourite for Inside Soap win

03/07/2007

Coronation Street has been tipped as the favourite to pick up the best soap gong at this year's Inside Soap awards.

The Manchester-based show faces stiff competition from EastEnders, Emmerdale, Neighbours, Hollyoaks and Home and Away.

Inside Soap magazine has revealed this year's nominations, which include best actor and actress and sexiest male and female.

Lacey Turner, who plays EastEnders bad girl Stacey Slater, is nominated for best actress and is the favourite to pick up the award ahead of Kim Ryder, who plays Michelle Connor in Coronation Street.

Turner's on-screen brother Sean Slater, played by Robert Kazinsky, is among those nominated for sexiest male.

Kara Tointon, who plays Dawn Swann in EastEnders, and Roxanne McKee, who stars as Louise Summers in Hollyoaks are up for the sexiest female gong.

According to Sky Bet, it's too close to call the winner between Tointon and McKee, with both 7/2 joint favourites.

The best actor category includes nominations for Alan Fletcher, who plays Karl Kennedy in Neighbours and Charlie Clements, who portrays Bradley Branning in EastEnders.

But the favourite according to Sky Bet is Coronation Street's Antony Cotton.
