Culshaw to kick off new-look Millionaire

13/08/2007

Impressionist John Culshaw and comedian Jon Thompson will kick off a new-look Who Wants to be a Millionaire on August 18th.

The celebrity pair will be putting their mental strength to the test in a revamped version of the quiz which features a faster route to the jackpot.

Rather than 15 questions the host will now only ask 12, while the money starts at £500 and the second 'safe haven' is at £50,000 rather than £32,000.

While there is certainly bigger money available quicker, it also means that a wrong answer could see people lose thousands more than before.

Chris Tarrant, the host of the show since its UK launch, said: "Sitting in that hotseat has always been a daunting prospect but now the contestants are thrown in at the deep end almost as soon as they've sat down, facing questions worth literally thousands.

"It's even harder for the celebrities because it's not their own money at stake, so I take my hat off to John and Jon and all the celebrities who we'll be seeing over the coming weeks for being brave enough to face the new faster route first."

Culshaw and Thompson will be raising money for both St Joseph's Hospice in Ormskirk and The Catholic Children's Rescue Society.

Also appearing will be Emmerdale stars Adele Silva and Nick Miles, playing for The Alzheimer's Society and Ovingdean Hall School for deaf children.

Future celebrities to play the quiz will be Eamonn Holmes and Kate Burley and Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper.
