EastEnders' dramatic shooting storyline

13/08/2007

A dramatic EastEnders plot is rumoured to be in the pipeline, with Ian Beale's wife Jane set to be shot by a mystery hitman, or woman.

Mrs Beale, played by Laurie Brett, is said to be attacked by someone from her husband's past.

There are rumours this could be his ex-wife Cindy, played by Michelle Collins, who was killed off after once trying to have Ian murdered.

According to the Sun, Ian receives messages from his ex from beyond the grave, possibly signalling an unlikely comeback.

A insider told the paper: "This will be the storyline of the year. It's a huge mystery and cast and crew have been sworn to secrecy.

"It's all related to the apparent return of Cindy - but is it really her? The culmination of the plot is that Ian's new wife Jane is shot in the stomach.

"Cindy would have reason to do it but is she the only one?"

It's been a tough ride already for Mr and Mrs Beale, with Jane having an affair with Grant Mitchell upon his return from Brazil.

When Ian found out, the pair had a bizarre argument during the rain in Albert Square's muddy park, resulting in a mud-wrestling slagging match.
