Ex-Neighbours star hits out at "greedy" and "nasty" producers
01/03/2008
Ex-Neighbours actor Alan Dale has claimed that he left the show as a protest against the actions of the soap's producers.
Dale, who played Jim Robinson in the Australian TV show from 1985 to 1993, attacked the producers in an interview with The Stage magazine, claiming they were "greedy and nasty".
"It was sweet and the people I worked with were sweet, most of them," he said of his time at Neighbours.
"But the producers were greedy and nasty. There are many examples of the things these people did and, as far as I know, are still doing.
"When you live in a country where there is not much else to do as an actor, there isn't much choice but to put up with it," he said.
"But I used to fight them all the time, which is one of the reasons we parted company."
After leaving Neighbours, Dale has gone on to star in a number of successful US television shows including, The X-Files, 24, The O.C. and Ugly Betty.
He will next be seen playing King Arthur in Spamalot at the Palace Theatre in London from March 3rd.
