Expanded cast for ITV1's Echo Beach

10/07/2007

ITV1's ambitious Echo Beach and Moving Wallpaper dual-series will include a large supporting cast of British TV stars.

Joining Jason Donovan and Martine McCutcheon on Echo Beach will be Hugo Speer, previously of Bleak House and The Full Monty; and Johnny Briggs, who starred in Coronation Street for a number of years.

Also joining the soap will be Ed Speelers from Eragon; Marcus Patrick, who previously starred in Hollyoaks; and Laura Greenwood from Prime Suspect 7.

Starring in Moving Wallpaper will be Raquel Cassidy from the BBC's Party Animals, Elizabeth Berrington from the Office and Lucy Liemann, who starred in The IT Crowd.

Echo Beach and Moving Wallpaper are separate shows with overlapping stories and plots, with the latter being a programme about the making of the former.

Susie Amy, who featured in Footballer's Wives, will star in both programmes; she will be an extra trying to get a line of dialogue in Moving Wallpaper and will then star in Echo Beach delivering the line in the actual soap.

Both shows have been created by Tony Jordan, the lead writer and story consultant for the BBC's EastEnders.

Echo Beach will depict the story of Daniel, a returning ex-lover played by Donovan who comes back to de-stabilise the relationship between McCutcheon's character and her on-screen husband.

The sister show, Moving Wallpaper, will involve a director and a crew making Echo Beach, with some characters playing roles in both shows.
