Felony charges for CSI star after drug possession arrest
08/05/2008
Actor Gary Dourdan has been charged with felony drug possession after being found with heroin, cocaine and ecstasy last month.
The CSI star was arrested in Palm Springs, California, on April 28th after being discovered asleep at the wheel of a parked car and was detained when officers found the three narcotics.
He is due to appear in court on May 28th, Riverside County prosecutors have confirmed.
"If convicted, Dourdan faces a probation term and could be required to complete a drug treatment program," Michael Jeandron, a representative for the Riverside County district attorney told People magazine.
"If he completes it, the charges will be dismissed."
The 41-year-old actor said this week he was "obviously... embarrassed" at the arrest.
"I am profoundly grateful to everyone for their support," he added in a statement.
Having made his name in Cosby Show spin-off A Different World, Dourdan won the part of forensics expert Warrick Brown on CSI, CBS' Emmy award-winning crime show.
His character is scheduled to leave the show at the end of the eighth season.
The Philadelphia native dated British model and TV presenter Lisa Snowdon following her split from George Clooney.
