Gary can't stand the heat on Strictly Come Dancing
06/10/2008
Television chef Gary Rhodes has become the third contestant to be booted off the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
After a poor performance on Saturday night's show, Gary and partner Karen Hardy were left languishing in the bottom two along with Olympic swimmer Mark Foster.
And with three of the four judges opting to save Mark, Gary has become the latest celebrity to leave the ballroom.
On Saturday, the judging panel described Gary's footwork as "flat as a pancake" and awarded him just 18 points out of a possible 40.
Craig Revel Horwood had the most scathing remarks, telling the chef: "There are a few problems that one must overcome, one being a hunched back - that doesn't help; the lurching neck is not helping you.
"There are major timing issues and stompy flat-footedness that make it laboured."
Following Gary's Sunday exit, judge Len Goodman commented: "I thought it was a very brave attempt."
After following EastEnders Phil Daniels and Gillian Taylforth off series six of the BBC1 dance shows, Gary said: "I would go through it all again - I want that ballroom dance. Maybe we'll have that privately."
