Girlband promise improvement after narrow escape

12/10/2008

X Factor hopefuls Girlband have vowed to up their game after narrowly avoiding elimination on Saturday night's show.

The quartet found themselves in the bottom two with fellow female act Bad Lashes, and were only saved from an early exit by a viewer vote.

The vote of judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh finished 2-2 but after the TV audience's votes were factored in, Bad Lashes were sent home while Girlband have another shot on next weekend's editi0on.

"Any criticism we're going to take on board now," said Girlband's Tita Lau, 19. "Because we were in the bottom two, I think now it's time for Girlband to up their game and we're going to step it up. We don't want to be in the bottom two again ever."

Marisa Billitteri, also 19, told Digital Spy: "We're going to make sure we get harmonies tighter and like Louis [Walsh] says to us all the time: 'Girls, just rehearse, rehearse, rehearse'.

"And hopefully if we do that, next week we're not going to be in the last two again. It's just a horrible feeling. It's really terrible."

Phoebe Jay Lau, 17, said Girlband were glad to have retained their place in the competition but sad to see Bad Lashes leave.

"It's just too much to take," she explained. "I mean, Bad Lashes were just our best friends and it's so hard to see your friends go because they deserve it so much as well.

"I'm so happy at the same time but it's just too much to take, seriously."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18822394-ADNFCR
