Hasselhoff resolves divorce

19/12/2007

Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has been awarded joint custody of his two daughters as part of a divorce settlement with ex-wife Pamela Bach.

"I'm pleased that everything has been resolved and I'm proud of my kids, who remain strong and have exhibited dignity during this very difficult time," Hasselhoff said in a statement released by his publicist.

"We are all moving on."

The pair divorced in 2006 after more than 16 years of marriage.

Hasselhoff was temporarily denied access to his daughters Taylor, 17, and Hayley, 15, after footage showing him drunk was leaked to US TV networks in May this year.

The actor is a recovering alcoholic and the video, shot three months before by Taylor, showed him sprawled on the floor topless, messily eating a hamburger.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, the CBS show that first acquired the footage, the former Knight Rider star said: "It's really sad and really affecting my children."

He regained sole custody a month later, but was admitted to hospital in October for a "brief relapse" into alcoholism.

The 55-year-old had been ordered to abstain from alcohol in June, as part of a dispute with his ex-wife for the custody of the two teenage girls.

The actor's lawyer, Melvin S Goldman, declined to reveal the terms of the new settlement.

But he explained that improved relations between Hasselhoff and Bach had sparked the revised custody agreement, after Hasselhoff agreed to let his ex-wife stay in their former home in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley until it is sold.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18401216-ADNFCR
