Hell's Kitchen finalists ready for final
17/09/2007
Barry McGuigan and Adele Silva are gearing up for the biggest culinary challenge of their lives in the final of ITV1's Hell's Kitchen.
The winner of the controversial reality TV show will be decided tonight in a live public vote.
But head chef Marco-Pierre White has already backed Emmerdale actress Silva as his favourite for the golden chef's hat.
He told the Daily Mirror that the 26-year-old, who confessed to not being able to boil an egg before the show began, could easily open her own restaurant.
"Adele has been fantastic," White said. If she wasn't an actress she could definitely become a chef full time."
Silva meanwhile said she was delighted to have just made the final. "People ask me, 'Are you pleased?'. I am just like a nodding dog," she told the Hell's Kitchen website.
Former boxer McGuigan, the bookies' favourite to win tonight's final, added: "I am so grateful the public have voted me in. I must be doing something right."
This year's Hell's Kitchen has not been without controversy. First White hit the headlines for the wrong reasons when using the word "pikey" in a move condemned by the Commission for Racial Equality, while comic Jim Davidson left the show after branding gay men as "shirtlifters".
