Ian Wright and Kirsty Gallacher lined up for Gladiators

12/03/2008

Ian Wright and Kirsty Gallacher have been named as the new presenters for the return of Gladiators.

The competitive series disappeared from UK screens in 2000, after an eight-year run of amateur athletes battling against muscle-bound gladiators in events requiring speed, agility and strength.

But with the return of Gladiators to UK screens, a new set of contenders will have the chance to compete in events such as Duel, Hang Tough, Gauntlet and The Eliminator.

Original referee John Anderson will return when the new show airs on Sky One and Sky One HD this May, while Wright and Gallacher will follow in the footsteps of John Fashanu and Ulrika Jonsson.

Former Arsenal footballer Wright, now a TV pundit, said: "Gladiators is a great show and I am thrilled to be involved.

"Since people first heard it was coming back the response has been phenomenal and I am so excited that a new generation get to experience it."

And Gallacher, daughter of professional golfer Bernard said she "grew up with Gladiators".

"I couldn't be more excited to be involved in the new series," she added.

"It promises to be great entertainment on a major scale and I can't wait to get started."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18505496-ADNFCR
