Jamie and Gordon to team up

22/11/2007

Celebrity chef rivals Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver are to join forces for a special campaign next year, according to Channel 4.

The channel launched its winter schedule yesterday, with the two cooks to tackle the UK's eating habit in a fortnight-long food season.

Jamie Oliver is to continue his look at the dark secrets behind our favourite foods in Jamie's Fowl Dinners, uncovering the murky world of industrial chicken production.

"Jamie's simple message will be 'If you know what happens to a chicken before arriving on your plate, would you change the way you think about chicken?'" said Andrew Mackenzie, head of Channel 4 factual entertainment, at yesterday's launch.

"Jamie reveals how chickens go from the farm to the fork," he added.

And Ramsay will maintain his mission to encourage fast, healthy cuisine in Cook-a-Long-a-Gordon Live.

The winter schedule will also include Eat Yourself to Death, with professor of anatomy Dr Gunther von Hagens revealing the effects of a poor diet through a gruesome human dissection.

The channel is also to extend its documentary output, with the number of Cutting Edge shows produced to triple in 2008.

And Friday Night Project presenter Alan Carr will launch a new comedy show, while three US comedies will debut, including Frasier actor Kelsey Grammer starring as a disgraced broadcaster in Back to You.

Though Celebrity Big Brother has ostensibly been cancelled in the wake of this year's racism row, Dermot O'Leary will present spin-off show Big Brother Celebrity Hijack on E4, it was confirmed.

Celebrities will take the role of Big Brother and cause "havoc" in a house filled with members of the public in the new show. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18365695-ADNFCR
