Jason Donovan to release new album
31/08/2008
Former Neighbours and West End theatre star Jason Donovan is set to release his first studio album for 15 years in November.
Entitled Let It Be Me, the LP will be the 40-year-old's first solo musical project since All Around The World charted a disappointed 27 in the UK in 1993.
On his website, Donovan says the tracks will have a "50s/60s theme" and be a mixture of original works and cover versions.
Donovan's musical career has taken a back seat since he left the Australian soap and exploded onto the British pop scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
After returning to acting to star in theatre productions such as Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, The Rocky Horror Show, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Sweeney Todd he also appeared on TV in various guises.
He came third in ITV1 reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2006 and went on to appear in new-age soap Echo Beach/Moving Wallpaper as both himself and character Daniel Marrack.
Donovan has also recently announced an upcoming stint as a radio DJ, presenting a three-hour show on UK commercial radio on Sunday evenings.
Let It Be Me is said to feature new versions of classic songs like Blue Velvet, Love Hurts and Smoke Gets In My Eyes, as well as a reworking of his old hit Sealed With a Kiss and a brand new track entitled Dreamboats and Petticoats.
