Jessie Wallace voted off Strictly Come Dancing

13/10/2008

Former EastEnders actress Jessie Wallace has become the fourth contestant voted off the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The actress was booted off the BBC1 show after failing to impress the judging panel in a dance-off on Sunday night.

Wallace and partner Darren Bennett were left in the bottom two of the competition along with singer Heather Small and her partner Brian Fortuna after a combination of viewer votes and judges' scores.

And the ex-soap star, who played Kat Slater in EastEnders, followed fellow former Albert Square residents Phil Daniels and Gillian Taylforth off the dance floor.

Celebrity chef Gary Rhodes became the third contestant to be voted off the sixth series of the BBC1 show last week.

After Wallace's first dance, judge Arlene Phillips told her: "This dance needs a sporty delivery and sometimes you got that and you looked like you were on the dance floor and other times you looked like you were on the football field."

Judge Len Goodman was the only member of the panel to side with actress after the dance-off, saying: "I thought Jessie and Darren improved the most during that performance. Both couples made mistakes, but my vote was with them."

But with three votes in Heather's favour, Jessie became the latest celebrity dancer to leave the show.

"I wish it could've been longer but that's the game," she said. "I've had a wicked time, Darren's brilliant." ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18822437-ADNFCR
