Kate to learn from Diana friend

21/01/2008

Princess William's girlfriend Kate Middleton is reportedly seeking to learn photography from Princess Diana's former photographer Mario Testino.

Testino gained fame for taking pictures of the princess that appeared in Vogue magazine and in a special book with photographs of the princess relaxing at Kensington Palace. He has also taken photographs at the birthday parties of Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Sun newspaper reports that Middleton, who has left her job at a high street fashion store, was keen on developing her skills behind the camera. Prince William has apparently spoken to Mr Testino and asked him to give Middleton private training.

A friend of Middleton told the paper: "Kate's very excited. She's itching to get her teeth into a new career and says William's been fantastically supportive."

Prince William is currently on a four-month secondment with the Royal Air Force. By learning to fly the prince is following in the footsteps of his father, who earned his wings more than 35 years ago.

The training is designed to help Prince William understand the service's ethos, traditions and military role as he prepares to one day be head of the armed forces.
