Killed off? Am I bovvered?

18/07/2007

Catherine Tate will kill off the comic character Lauren in her hit BBC sketch show at the end of this year.

According to media reports, Lauren meets a sticky end in a Christmas special and there are not any prizes for guessing what her last words will be.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "It's going to be Lauren Cooper RIP. Catherine thinks it's time to kill her off and she'll be going in spectacular style."

It is also reported that pop superstar George Michael will be starring in the festive episode in a similar way to former prime minister Tony Blair, who featured in the Comic Relief special.

Tate has already been lined up as Doctor Who's assistant in the nest series of the hit BBC show after playing the Runaway Bride in a special episode of the programme.

The character of Lauren is one of the most well-known aspects of the Catherine Tate show.

Portrayed as a petulant teenager with the phrase "am I bovvered?", Lauren has taken on teachers, politicians and monarchs in various episodes of the show.

However she met her match in Mr Blair, who dressed her down and threw her catchphrase right back at her, much to his fellow MPs' amusement.
