Laura out, 'Aussie' on the way

07/07/2007

Following Laura's eviction from the Big Brother house last night, housemates received news of a new arrival – apparently from down under.

Unfortunately for them 'Pauline', the Australian Big Brother contestant said to be flying to Britain to participate in the UK version of the show, is in fact British actress Thaila Zucchi.

She will enter the house tomorrow at the start of Big Brother's fake week, which will end with a housemate's eviction interview followed by their immediate re-entry into the house.

The remaining 11 housemates, unaware that they were being deceived, reacted with screams and shrieks of excitement as 'Pauline' appeared on a video screen.

She was described as "fit as a tick" by an excited Liam, while Gerry said "she sounds cool" and Ziggy rejoiced with a prolonged "yaaaay".

Charley seemed especially struck by the prospect of an Aussie appearing shortly, chewing her fingers nervously before quietly suggesting that she seems somewhat familiar.

Misled housemates speculated that Laura might be journeying to Australia in return, while Pauline's excitement about heading to summer in Britain were met with predictably cynical guffaws.

Her appearance followed immediately on from Laura's exit from the house. The 23-year-old nanny, who spent her time on Big Brother flopping around in a leopardskin dressing gown, received 68 per cent of the public vote against Chanelle.

"I just thought I'd plod along until someone nominated me," she said.
