Letitia voted off Strictly
09/12/2007
Letitia Dean has missed out on a semi-final spot on this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing after being voted off by the judging panel.
The actress and dance partner Darren Bennett found themselves in the bottom two with Alesha Dixon and her partner Matthew Cutler despite an excellent waltz on Saturday night's show.
And just three couples now remain in the competition after the first three judges all chose to send Alesha and Matthew through.
A gracious Letitia said afterwards: "I've had the most amazing adventure and I want to thank this man [Darren] so much for all his patience, hard work and all the injuries I've caused him."
She added that she was now off for a stint in pantomime "to play a fairy".
When show host Bruce Forsyth asked if she was playing the fairy godmother, the former EastEnder joked: "Yes, that's what happens when you get to 40, you don't get to play the lead roles anymore!"
Twenty-year-old Matt Di Angelo - an outside favourite for the show - had a terrible night on Saturday's show, with his two performances characterised by the judges as "letting it fall apart".
The young EastEnders star and partner Flavia Cacace scored just 26 out of 40 for his foxtrot, with judge Craig Revel Horwood telling the actor: "You're letting your nerves take hold of you."
A mildly better samba earned the pair 29 out of a possible 40 to leave them in last place after Saturday night's show, but public support saw them named as the first couple through to the semis.
And the always-improving Gethin Jones was also guaranteed a spot in the last three thanks to the public vote, with head judge Len Goodman later opining that the Welsh TV presenter has "gone from good to great in two weeks".
