Lindi Mngaza latest Apprentice casualty

24/04/2008

Lindi Mngaza has become the latest contestant to be booted off reality TV show The Apprentice.

The 22-year-old was fired by Sir Alan Sugar on the BBC1 show last night after the teams were sent out to sell ice cream.

Mngaza found herself on the losing team after her Alpha team, led by Lucinda Ledgerwood, made £1,273.64 compared to the £1,455.45 made by rivals Renaissance, led by Claire Young.

Sir Alan was less than impressed with Mngaza and her team mate Jennifer Macguire for striking an exclusive deal with a cinema chain and a pub for the ice cream.

"You're out representing a farmer, who's trying to build up a business in London, and there you are giving away his total exclusivity in cinemas and bars... you have demonstrated how you've limited the farmer's business," Sir Alan said.

"Had I known this earlier on, these sales would have been void."

As a result, team leader Ledgerwood brought Maguire and Mngaza back into Sir Alan's boardroom to decide who would be shown the door this week.

In his usual style, Sir Alan gave Mngaza her marching orders by saying: "Lindi, you were second in command, second in command for what I think was the most important thing in this task; identifying customers and selling the merchandise.

"And it's sales that you lost this task on, and that brings me back to a conclusion that Lindi, you're fired."

Mngaza clearly hadn't seen the dismissal coming and said afterwards: "I thought I was going to win and this has happened. I was very shocked, absolutely stunned."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18566348-ADNFCR
