Longoria spouse sues media
20/12/2007
The husband of Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has filed a lawsuit against a celebrity website that claimed he had been unfaithful to his wife.
Entertainment news website X17 had run a number of stories and published a series of text messages it alleged Tony Parker had exchanged with French model Alexandra Paressant who claimed to have slept with Parker after meeting him at his wedding to Longoria.
Stories on the website stated that Parker had been involved with her for two months after tying the knot with the actress.
The professional sportsman has repeatedly denied the allegations and is now seeking $20 million (£10 million) in damages for defamation from the publication. In the court documents, Parker states that the story was based on "worthless" evidence and that neither he nor his representatives had ever been contacted to confirm the story.
Previously Parker's lawyers have said the story was "entirely false and fabricated" and that the sports star had never "laid eyes" on Paressant.
His wife Eva Longoria has publicly dismissed the reports saying that Parker was "nothing short of the perfect husband".
