Myleene Klass to be Sky 'test card' girl

23/05/2007

Classical performer Myleene Klass will star as the new 'test card' girl for Sky's high-definition (HD) service.

Made famous by the BBC during the 1970s and 80s, the test card girl was the face of the BBC when programmes were off air.

Now Sky's HD service will feature the same thing, although with a slightly more interactive style.

Myleene is featured in the same format as that of the test card girl on the BBC until the camera zooms in and the singer springs up to explain to viewers how to get the most out of their HD set.

Originally the test card girl's chalkboard was extremely important to the performance of televisions; its cross had to be in the centre of the screen otherwise something was wrong with the TV set.

The latest Myleene-fronted test card is the same, except viewers can make alterations to their set using their Sky control by following the on-screen instructions.

The former Hear'Say star is currently pregnant with her first child and will be releasing her first album on the EMI Classic label on July 2nd.
