Paris 'loses her Bentley'
01/03/2007
Paris Hilton has had her luxury Bentley seized by police after the hotel heiress and reality TV star was caught driving on a suspended licence, it has been reported.
Los Angeles prosecutors have indicated that Paris could now face jail if it is found that she violated the terms of a three-year probation sentence she was handed for alcohol-related reckless driving in January, following an incident which occurred back in September of last year.
In her latest brush with the law, the LA sheriff's department said that Paris, 26, was stopped by police while speeding down Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood on Tuesday night without headlights and that her blue Bentley Continental GTC was impounded after officers discovered that she appeared to be driving on a suspended licence.
The LA city attorney's office has now said that it will ask a judge to revoke her probation for apparently violating the terms of her sentence – an action which could result in a range of tough punishments, including 90 days in jail.
"Our office is waiting to obtain a copy of the citation," Nick Velasquez, a spokesman for the city attorney's office was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
"Once we're able to verify that Miss Hilton was driving the vehicle, we will request that the court revoke her probation and set a probation violation hearing," he added.
Meanwhile, Paris' spokesman Elliot Mintz insists that the star did not knowingly violate the terms of her probation.
"I don't believe Paris knew whether or not she was allowed to drive," Mintz told the Reuters news agency.
"I don't know if that information had been clearly communicated to her," he added.
