30/05/2008
Piers Morgan has agreed an exclusive two-year deal with ITV, the channel has revealed.
The former editor of the Daily Mirror newspaper can currently be seen on the judging panel of ITV1's Britain's Got Talent and will return for a third season, it has been confirmed.
Having presented Sandbanks, a three-part documentary series about the exclusive south coast resort which attracted 3.1 million viewers, Morgan will front three more documentaries for ITV in 2009.
And having presented late-night interview show You Can't Fire Me, I'm Famous for the BBC, Morgan's journalistic skills will be put to use in a new entertainment talk show from ITV productions.
He is also contracted for a number of one-off specials throughout the next two years.
Peter Fincham, ITV's Director of Television called Morgan "one of the most sought-after and popular entertainment personalities on British television".
"I'm delighted that we have been able to secure an exclusive partnership with him on ITV."
Morgan himself said he was "delighted to be joining ITV at such an exciting time of change and evolution for the network".
He added: "[I] look forward to making some innovative new entertainment programmes over the next few years."
