Prison Break actor charged with manslaughter
09/03/2007
Prison Break actor Lane Garrison has been charged with manslaughter after a car crash in December killed a 17-year-old and injured two girls.
Prosecutors reported that the 26-year-old Texan-born actor had almost twice the legal amount of alcohol in his blood when he crashed his sport utility vehicle into a tree in Beverly Hills, California, on December 2nd last year.
Vahagn Setian, aged 17, died in the collision and two 15-year-old girls were said to be injured.
Mr Garrison was charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence .He was also charged with giving alcohol to an underage person. If convicted he could face more than six years in prison.
Speaking to the press the actor's lawyer, Harland Braun, said Mr Garrison would be answerable for his actions. He said: "He is going to accept responsibility for his conduct. The only question is what is that level of responsibility?"
Last year Mr Braun said Mr Garrison had no recollection of the accident.
The actor, who rose to fame playing Tweener on the popular prison drama, has been released on $200,000 (£103,668) bail but will return to court on 11th April.
