Richie gives birth to baby girl

Hollywood star Nicole Richie has given birth to a baby girl at a hospital in Los Angeles.

Richie and her boyfriend Joel Madden have named their daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden.
She was born on Friday night at the Cedars-Sinai medical centre and weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces.

Good Charlotte rocker Madden, 28, told People magazine that the couple were delighted to be parents.

He told the magazine: "We are very blessed she's healthy and beautiful and so good already. We are very happy."

The 26-year-old Simple Life star threw a Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower last year and launched a charity called the Richie Madden Children's Foundation in December.

In previous interviews, Richie has said that pregnancy had changed her and promised to slow down her hectic lifestyle which has seen her serve jail-time for driving under the influence.

The celebrity socialite was released after spending just over an hour behind bars.
