Rodney crocked in Aussie jungle

21/11/2007

Footballer-turned-pundit Rodney Marsh has seen his fortunes take a tumble on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after a nasty fall.

While collecting fire wood with interior designer Anna Ryder-Richardson, the ex-Manchester City player slipped on the jungle floor, injuring his knee.

Ever the old pro, a defiant Rodney said: "I'm not going on a stretcher. I've got people watching in England," before being helped off the scene.

He added: "As a footballer you know when you've been injured and it's my knee. It's definitely gone."

And an ITV statement issued after Rodney's slip confirmed the extent of his injury.

"Rodney strained a ligament whilst collecting wood earlier this evening," it read. "He was attended to by medics on site and sent to hospital as a precautionary measure. They discharged him immediately and he is recuperating overnight under lock down conditions at a secure location. He will be reassessed in the morning as to when he can rejoin the camp."

Rodney had earlier antagonised Lynne Franks with some typically old-fashioned remarks, while the PR guru also argued with chef John Burton Race, who called her a "pain in the arse".

And while Marc Bannerman and Cerys Matthews continued their highly-unsubtle flirting, Janice Dickinson and Jason 'J' Brown secured ten meals for the camp in a high-octane Bushtucker Trial while Anna won immunity from eviction after winning the latest Bush Battle.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18363329-ADNFCR
