Show will go on, Baby promises
14/12/2007
Emma Bunton has promised Spice Girls fans an ankle injury will not stop her from performing at the group's homecoming concert at London's O2 Arena.
The 31-year-old fell on stage during the girl power group's Las Vegas gig earlier this week and sprained her ankle, meaning that the five-piece's planned appearance on BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing has been postponed.
The Spice Girls had been expected to perform their hit 2 Become 1 on this weekend's semi-final show, but James Blunt will now step in while Emma rests her ankle.
However the mother-of-one said she wouldn't miss the London leg of the girls' world tour.
"I'm praying that I will be all right for Saturday," she added. "Even if I have to come on stage in crutches I'll be there."
Baby Spice explained she was being treated by the same doctor who had aided bandmate Victoria's husband David with a foot injury.
However Geri Halliwell joked: "It's not her metatarsal."
The band flew back to the UK on Wednesday after the unveiling of a Virgin Atlantic plane named Spice One in their honour.
More than 33,000 fans took part in a poll to choose the jet's name, with Spice One taking 56 per cent of the vote, ahead of Girl Power and Spice Girl.
The Spice Girls will appear on the live final of Strictly Come Dancing instead of this week's semi-final, a BBC spokesman confirmed.
