Spears' sister pregnant

19/12/2007

Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger sister of Britney Spears, has confirmed that she is expecting her first child at the age of 16.

The teenager told OK magazine that she was three months into her pregnancy and was shocked when doctors confirmed the news.

She added that the father of the child was her boyfriend Casey Aldridge and that she had waited for two weeks before informing her family. The star also revealed that she was scared at the time and needed time to consider how to move forward.

Jamie Spears, who plays the role of a boarding school student in popular television show Zoey 101, told the magazine: "It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

Speaking to the magazine, Jamie's mother, Lynne, said she was stunned by the news.

She told the magazine: "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious. She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."

Nickelodeon, the television network carrying the star's television show, has expressed support for Jamie acknowledging that it was a "difficult time" for her.
