Murray brothers head Davis Cup team lineup
29/08/2008
Andy and Jamie Murray have both been named in a strong Great Britain team lineup for next month's World Group playoff tie against Austria.
Captain John Lloyd will hang his hat on the Scottish duo to win the matches that would see them retain their spot in the top section of the team competition for the 2009 season.
The match takes place on the grass courts of the All England Club over the weekend of September 19th to 21st.
And joining world number six Andy Murray and his elder brother Jamie, who is a doubles specialist ranked 32nd in the world, will be world number 172 Alex Bogdanovic and the world's 84th ranked doubles player Ross Hutchins.
"I firmly believe that I have picked the team that stands the best possible chance of getting us back into the World Group in 2009," Lloyd said.
"Andy has been playing some fabulous tennis this summer and is a match for anyone.
I have options with my doubles combination, which is so often the crucial rubber in Davis Cup ties, and Alex is returning to form just at the right time.
"Austria are a tough side but with the support of a home crowd, we are capable of beating them - it is sure to be an exciting three days of tennis."
Austria's biggest threat in the singles is likely to come from Jurgen Melzer (the world number 48) and Stefan Koubek (109), although the doubles play of world number ten Julian Knowle is likely to be the biggest test for Great Britain.
