Murray to face Italian Bolelli in Madrid Masters
14/10/2008
British number one Andy Murray will face Italy's Simone Bolelli in his opening match at the Madrid Masters later today.
Bolelli entered the tournament as a late replacement for Marat Safin, and started impressively when he upset Spain's Nicolas Almagro in the first round yesterday to earn a meeting with fourth seed Murray.
The Scot, who had a first-round bye, has never played the world number 43 before.
Murray and his brother Jamie had a disappointing start to the their doubles campaign when they were beaten 6-4 6-3 by French pair Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra in less than an hour on Monday.
The result means Jamie has still not won a men's doubles match since he and Andy teamed up together at the Beijing Olympics in August, when their run was also ended by Clement and Llodra.
Murray revealed that he was no looking forward to his singles campaign.
"I'm feeling good, I had a few weeks off after the Davis Cup so I feel pretty fresh," Murray said.
"It's been good to have a bit of time off; it's been a long year with the Olympics being in between Wimbledon and the US Open.
"It was nice; I played some Davis Cup, got some time off and I'm looking forward to playing again.
"I've not played for a while so I'm just trying to take each match at a time. In these sorts of tournaments you could play a guy in the top 20 in your first match, you've got to be ready from the start."
