Williams sisters crash out of Olympics
14/08/2008
Venus and Serena Williams have been knocked out of the Olympic tennis tournament in the quarter-finals today.
Home favourite Li Na took advantage of a partisan home crowd to upset Wimbledon champion Venus , winning 7-5 7-5.
Serena won the first set against Russian star Elena Dementieva , but failed to take the match as Dementieva came back to win 3-6 6-4 6-3.
The Williams sisters will now concentrate on winning the doubles event which they won in Sydney in 2000.
As for Chinese star Na, she admitted that her home crowd had carried her to an amazing win over Venus.
"Wow! You can't see this kind of crowd anywhere else. It helped me and pushed me a lot," said the 26-year-old.
"This is a present I give to the Beijing Olympic Games but I have no time to celebrate. I have more matches to go."
