Britain's Jeffries guarantees minimum bronze
19/08/2008
Britian's light-heavyweight boxer Tony Jeffries is guaranteed at least a bronze medal after he beat Hungary's Imre Szello in a convincing display.
After a tight opening, Jeffries cruised to a 10-2 victory over his opponent.
He follows David Price who is also guaranteed at least a bronze in claiming a podium position for Britain's boxers.
Jeffries was delighted following the victory, which was by far his most convincing performance of the Games.
"I've had my ups and down like most boxers. But this is a dream come true. To get here was brilliant, now getting a medal is the proudest moment of my life.
"It's everything I've trained for over the last two years. I've dedicated so much of my life to getting a medal. All those cold morning runs have paid off now."
The 23-year-old will now face Ireland's Kenny Egan in Friday's semi-finals.
