Karlsson and Singh share USPGA lead
08/08/2008
Robert Karlsson and Jeev Milkha Singh have earned a first-round lead at the USPGA after going round two under par.
Both players shot an opening round of 68 at a stormy Oakland Hills, Detroit.
Karlsson of Sweden defied a double-bogey at the off to hit six birdies before two bogeys at the 14th and 15th holes.
Indian Singh also got off to a slow start but recovered instantly with a second-hole eagle and three birdies.
Ken Duke, Sean O'Hair, Sergio Garcia and Billy Mayfair are in joint fourth place on one-under, while Argentinean Andres Romero is technically sharing the lead on two-under par with two holes left to play from his first round.
Recent Open champion Padraig Harrington is still in contention one-over on 71, although he has three holes left to play after play was suspended over the bad weather.
Players unable to complete their first round yesterday will resume later today, while the second round will begin as planned.
