Miankova claims victory in women's hammer

Aksana Miankova of Belarus has won the women's hammer event in Beijing, setting a new Olympic record in the process.
The 26-year-old achieved a distance of 76.34m with her fifth throw, beating Cuba's Yipsi Moreno (75.20m) into silver medal position after she fell just over a metre short of Miankova with her final attempt.
China's Wenxiu Zhang took third place and the bronze with a season's-best throw of 74.32m.
