Ramzi wins 1500m for Bahrain's first gold

Bahrain's Rashid Ramzi has won the gold medal in the men's 1500m.

The 28-year-old the front with 200m to go and despite a late challenge from Kenya's Asbel Kipruto Kiprop, who won gold in the steeplechase yesterday, Ramzi held on to win.

Nicholas Willis of New Zealand came third while Great Britain's Andrew Baddeley finished in ninth.

Ramzi, who used to compete for his native Morocco, claimed Bahrain's first Olympic gold medal.
