Rauhihi signs new contract with Warrington Wolves
20/08/2008
Warrington Wolves prop Paul Rauhihi has signed a new one-year contract that will keep him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of the 2009 season.
The 35-year-old New Zealand international, who signed from North Queensland Cowboys in 2005, has been an ever-present in the Wolves team this season.
Rumours suggested he could be set to retire from the sport, or return to his homeland to see out his playing career.
However, he has ended speculation over his future by committing himself to one more season in Super League.
Warrington head coach James Lowes said: "Rauhihi has had a good season for us this year and playing every game speaks for itself.
"It's good to keep that consistency."
In addition to an agreement with Rauhihi, Wolves have also chosen to take up the one-year options on contract extensions for three of their young players - Chris Riley, Steve Pickersgill and Mike Cooper who will now stay until at least the end of 2009.
"The younger members of the squad have stood up to be counted this season and fully deserve their place in the squad for 2009," Lowes added.
