Rhinos and Warriors paired in Challenge Cup
13/05/2008
Super League giants Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors have been drawn against each other in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
Holders St Helens face Hull Kingston Rovers, while Rovers' local rivals Hull FC will play Bradford Bulls.
The other tie will see the only non-Super League outfit remaining in the competition, National League Two side Oldham, face Wakefield Wildcats.
Wigan earned the right to play the Super League champion Rhinos with a 106-8 victory over Whitehaven on Monday night, while Leeds were 36-26 winners over Harlequins.
Hull, who won the Challenge Cup in 2005, face the in-form Bulls, who beat the Super League's second-placed side Catalans Dragons to make the last-eight.
And Bradford head coach Steve McNamara said he was relishing the challenge against his old club.
"It is a difficult tie and I won't kid anyone - everyone would have wanted Oldham - but if you can't get them then you'd settle for a home tie. That's what we've got and I'm sure it'll be a fantastic cup match," he said.
"Some of those [Hull FC] players who lifted the cup three years ago are still around.
"They've had a taste of what it's all about, played in high-profile matches and will want to do so again. Hull are also getting players back available and I've always said they will improve."
Full Challenge Cup quarter-final draw:
Wakefield Wildcats v Oldham
Leeds Rhinos v Wigan Warriors
Hull KR v St Helens
Bradford Bulls v Hull FC
Ties to be played on May 31st and June 1st.
