63 Degrees; Modern French Cuisine located in the heart of Manchesterís Northern Quarter. Owned and ran by the Moreau family, Alex Moreau is the Director alongside his father Eric Moreau who is the Head Chef. The food is an expression of modern French cuisine, using only locally sourced and fresh ingredients.
Nestled in the lavish four-star Midland hotel, The French Restaurant is a luxurious venue. Imitating the elegant 1900ís dťcor of the hotel, the restaurant oozes class and refined sophistication. A large dining area, adorned with mirrors and gentle lighting, The French Restaurant is a gentle reminder that restaurant decoration need not be limited to surreal paintings and photographs of Manchester. This elegance isnít restricted to the aesthetics though and the menu keeps to the same high standard. The service here is also noteworthy, walking a fine line between intrusive and attentive Ė donít expect to be asked if youíre enjoying your meal halfway through a mouthful.
When the five-star Lowry Hotel unveiled its restaurant in 2001, Manchesterís foodie communities could barely contain their excitement. The River Room (as it was then called) was a Marco Pierre White restaurant, you see. As many of us remember, it didnít quite work out like that.
