It is a well-known fact that the people of Chorlton love their greens. The gardens are leafy, the shops are full of misshapen organic vegetables, and shopping bags from Unicorn (the vegan, mainly organic co-operative supermarket) were a status symbol well before Anya Hindmarsh hit Sainsbury's.

So it should come as no surprise to discover that Chorlton's one and only juice bar does a roaring...

When favoured Mancunian deli Love Saves The Day decided to pack up its Thomas Street venue, there were all kinds of grumblings and mumblings from the Northern Quarter's caffeine junkies. Visions abounded of the boho masses staggering up and down the Northern Quarter, manically twitching and muttering about organically grown, ethically sourced Columbian Roast.

Didsbury does money very, very well, with plenty of high-end high street chains nestling up to each other along the high street. Café Rouge, Slug and Lettuce and M&S Food all do a roaring trade with the swish young professionals. But if you’re looking for something with a touch more soul, step off Wilmslow Road and onto Barlow Moor Road instead.
